Webb Civil War romantic rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) musical ("Mr. Rock 'N' Roll in the story he was born to play!"; "...singin' man ...fightin' man ...lovin' man"; "Based on a story by Maurice Geraghty") starring Richard Egan, Debra Paget, Elvis Presley (billed as "introducing Elvis Presley in his first motion picture"; in his first movie!), Robert Middleton, William Campbell, Neville Brand, Mildred Dunnock, Bruce Bennett, and James Drury. Note that producer Hal Wallis intended the 1957 film "Loving You" to be the first Elvis film. However, six months before the start of production for that project, Wallis loaned Elvis to 20th Century Fox and "Love Me Tender" became his first movie.
