An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) The Dragon Murder Case, the 1934 H. Bruce Humberstone detective mystery crime thriller ("Philo Vance Returns in the Dragon Murder Case"; based on the character created in novels "by S.S. Van Dine"; there is a murder at a mansion where someone drowns in a pool that legend says a dragon inhabits, and when they drain the pool, there is no body, but there are dragon prints, and therefore it seems that the dragon is the killer, but of course, there is an alternate explanation that Philo Vance discovers at the film's climax) starring Warren William (as Philo Vance), Margaret Lindsay, Lyle Talbot, Eugene Pallette, Helen Lowell, George E. Stone, William B. Davidson, and Dorothy Tree. Note that William Powell first played Philo Vance in 1929's "The Canary Murder Case" and after the character proved very popular, he followed it the next year with "The Greene Murder Case", after which Basil Rathbone took over the role that same year in "The Bishop Murder Case". After Powell played Vance again in "The Benson Murder Case" (which was also made in a Spanish language version with an entirely different case), he then played him one more time in "The Kennel Murder Case" in 1933, but the character also appeared in ten more movies between 1934 and 1947, with other actors in the lead roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned seven lobby cards, three stills, and a herald from this movie until we received this window card! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Finally, note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 21 1/2" [36 x 55 cm]. Condition: good to very good. A tiny bit of the top and bottom blank borders were trimmed off (only blank white paper is affected, and it is around 1/4" only in each area). The card had darkened somewhat around the edges. It has smudges scattered down the left, extending into the left of the title. The card has never had any sort of restoration. It certainly can be displayed as it is, or one could have restoration performed. Either way, the new owner of this card will have an extremely rare window card to display on their wall!
