Woody Woodpecker is the animated cartoon bird created by Walter Lantz & Ben 'Bugs' Hardaway in 1940 for Walter Lantz Animation Studio. At first, the voice of Woody was supplied by Mel Blanc, but after several other people filled that position, Walter Lantz' wife, Grace Stafford, got the job! A balloon featuring the character has long been a staple of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and he has a star on on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also appeared in many comic books.

Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for an 8 1/2" x 11" color transparency and a two-sided color ad that were made when this classic character returned to TV in 1998 (see our images). We show a scan of the transparency, but realize that you are bidding on a color transparency that can't be framed or displayed in the usual way, but it can be used to make a scan that can be reproduced at any size you want (and we will supply our high quality scan of the transparency to the high bidder if they request it).
