eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3s0384 LOT OF 7 MYSTERY TROOPER LOBBY CARDS 1931 Royal Canadian Mounted Police serial! Date Sold 1/22/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 7 lobby cards from The Mystery Trooper, the 1931 Stuart Paton, Harry S. Webb Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie cowboy western serial starring Buzz Barton, Robert Frazer, Blanche Mehaffey, Al Furgeson, Charles King, William Von Brencken (billed as "Red Eagle"), and White Cloud (billed as "'White Cloud' The Wonder Horse"). Note that Buzz Barton was born William Lamoreaux, but at the age of 12, he played a small role in a B-western, billed as "Billy Lamar". Over the next two years, he appeared in a total of nine B-westerns, being billed under various names. Apparently, he was quite a horseman, and in 1927, he starred in "The Boy Rider" as a youthful western hero, and he was billed as "Buzz Barton". This proved to be a very popular movie, and over the next two years, he appeared in around a dozen similar movies, as the "World's Greatest Juvenile Western Star", always playing David "Red" Hepner (because of Barton's red hair). Over the next few years, he continued making B-westerns, playing various characters, but becoming an adult hurt his career, and he was reduced to playing uncredited parts in scores of B-westerns in the late 1930s. He left the movies in 1942, when he enlisted in the Navy (even though he only grew to 5'2" as an adult). Note that first release movie paper from this forgotten serial is beyond rare! The movie was re-released in 1935 as "Trail of the Royal Mounted", and we have had a few items from the re-release, but never anything from the first release. Note that this bulk lot of lobby cards is from a remarkable find that was just made of extremely rare lobby cards from the very early 1930s, the kind of titles you never see! Unfortunately, all of them were in lesser condition and some in much lesser condition. We took out the best seven for individual auctions, and then there are eleven incomplete sets of cards in eleven separate auctions, and finally, we made four bulk lots of the cards in the worst condition (and this is one of those four). All of these will be auctioned in our auctions that end in January, and afterwards, there will be no more cards from this remarkable find! Condition: poor to fair. All the cards have significant defects (see our images). Do not bid on them thinking they are in better condition than they are, because they are NOT!
