An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Danish Movie Poster (measures approximately 24" x 33") (Learn More) Born Yesterday, the classic 1951 George Cukor (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Washington D.C. romantic love triangle political corruption comedy ("It's here At Last!"; "Broadway's Biggest Hit... ...now a perfectly swell motion picture!"; "From the Celebrated Stage Play" by Garson Kanin; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a rich but corrupt junk dealer who goes to Washington to win influence through bribes, and he brings his uneducated girlfriend along and he hires a tutor to teach her proper etiquette, and they fall in love and turn the tables on the corrupt man) starring Broderick Crawford, Judy Holliday (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), William Holden, Howard St. John, and Frank Otto. Note that Judy Holliday had created the role of Billie Dawn in the original Broadway version of this play. Harry Cohn paid $1,000,000 for the rights to the play, and he did not want Holliday to play the part, because he thought she was not well enough known and too "ethnic". All of Columbia's top actresses, including Rita Hayworth, were considered for the role before they finally went back to Holliday, which is ironic, since she won the Oscar for Best Actress! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the poster has an artist's signature on it, but we cannot make it out in the slightest (the first name clearly begins with a "B" and the last name begins with an "S"). If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. The poster had creases and scuffs on parts of some foldlines, and some pinholes and tears in the borders, and a censor stamp in the top left. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was mounted onto a very thin linen with no restoration whatsoever. At some point, someone lightly folded the poster across the middle. Certainly, any talented restorer could remove this poster from the thin linen and properly linenback and restore it.
