Artist: Al Hirschfeld Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this Belgian poster. One of those examples has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! Also note that the art on this poster (in the lower right corner) certainly looks to be that of Al Hirschfeld, and it is listed on "alhirschfeld.com" as being by him, so we are sure they are correct! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18 1/2" [36 x 47 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster was folded across the middle and had wear along that foldline. There were many faint scuffs scattered throughout the image, more so in the solid background areas. There were some small tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
