A 1948 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More)

The Mummy's Ghost, the 1944 Reginald Le Borg Universal Egypt monster horror thriller sequel ("No chains can hold it! No tomb can seal it!"; "Nameless! Fleshless! Deathless!"; "All new terror!") starring Lon Chaney Jr. (reprising his role "as Kharis, The Mummy"), John Carradine, Ramsay Ames, Barton MacLane, George Zucco, Robert Lowery, Claire Whitney, Frank Reicher, Emmett Vogan, Harry Shannon, and Oscar O'Shea. Note that when Realart re-released all of the classic Universal monster movies starting in the late 1940s, they also re-released this movie, which was one of the very last of the original cycle of monster movies, and that Realart re-release was just four years after the first release!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that our consignor is a longtime horror collector who purchased this poster many years ago and had it professionally paperbacked at Studio C some number of years ago. We are 100% certain this is an original 1950s Realart re-release poster! What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards.

Note that while most of the items in these Sunday auctions have a fixed shipping of $12, $9, or $5 U.S. shipping (see each individual auction for which are which), THERE ARE 14 ITEMS NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THESE AUCTIONS THAT ARE QUITE OVERSIZED, AND ON THOSE EXACT AUCTIONS, THE BUYERS WILL HAVE TO PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING, EVEN IF THEY LIVE IN THE U.S.

Condition: very good. The poster was folded once in each direction and there was minor wear on the folds. There was a thin strip of paper loss in the middle of the second and third "M" of "MUMMY'S" in the title. There were some creases and scuffs scattered in the image. There were pinholes in the corners and paper loss in the top left blank corner. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects (and the restorer chose to put some new paper over parts of the original blank borders).
