An Original 1949 Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 9 1/2" x 11" [24 x 28 cm] when folded; 6 pages; unfolds to a 22" x 28" poster) (Learn More) Senza Pieta (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "Without Pity"), the 1948 Alberto Lattuada Italian racial prejudice military romantic melodrama ("The Story of a Negro G.I. and a Girl Campfollower!"; "As Featured in National Magazines"; "A vital challenge, but he accepted it boldly!"; "Dynamic! Realistic! Powerful!"; written by Federico Fellini; about the true story of black American G.I.s who were stationed in Italy at the end of World War II, and who refused to return to the U.S. due to their far better treatment in Italy where there was not the same racial prejudice as in the U.S., and they would go AWOL, and often have interracial romances with Italian girls) starring Carla Del Poggio, John Kitzmiller, Pierre Claude, Giulietta Masina, and Folco Lulli. Note that Alberto Lattuada was one of the first of the Italian neo-realists, and this is apparently an extremely realistic depiction of the real life situation described, and its interracial romance scenes caused it to receive very limited distribution in the United States! Note that John Kitzmiller was a black African American who served in Italy in World War II, and he decided to stay there after the war, and he appeared in around 50 Italian movies! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook is quite unusual, in that it was printed on a single 22" x 28" sheet that was designed to be folded up and when it was completely folded, it has an address area so that it could be sent directly to theaters! As you unfold the pressbook, it gives you more and more information about the movie, and then it completely unfolds into a 22" x 28" poster. Given that first release movie posters are virtually impossible to find (we once auctioned a one-sheet, but no other U.S. sizes), this pressbook is a great alternative, because it can be framed and displayed like a poster! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. There are two tiny bits of paper loss at the left crossfold (when the pressbook is completely unfolded). Otherwise, it is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
