An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 13" x 21 1/2" [33 x 55 cm]) (Learn More) My Friend the Devil, the 1922 Harry F. Millarde silent family relationship medical doctor religious awakening melodrama ("Read her diary!"; "Adapted from Georges Ohnet's novel 'Docteur Rameau'"; a wild story of a doctor who saw his mother killed by lightning when he was a boy, which made him an avowed atheist, and when he marries, his wife has a baby, but dies of heart disease; years later, on his daughter's wedding day, he learns of his wife's infidelity, and he ruins his daughter's wedding by making a scene; when she then suffers a collapse, he does all he can to save her, but it is only after he finally turns to God that his daughter is healed!) starring Charles Richman, Ben Grauer, William H. Tooker, Adolph Milar, and John Tavernier. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful poster shows the title character playing a chess game with Satan, and the chess pieces are obviously people from his life. We wonder if Ingmar Bergman saw this poster (or this movie), because it sure seems likely to have inspired HIS chess game with the Devil in The Seventh Seal in 1957! Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet (25 years ago), three three-sheets (10-18 years ago), four lobby cards, and two 8x10 stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this window card! Note that the card has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when Fox was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Condition: good to very good. The card has tiny paper loss in the blank corners and a pinhole in the top left corner. It has a few faint small stains in the top right blank area and in the top right background area, with a faint scuff mark in the middle right of the card. Certainly one could display this great card as it is, or one might choose to have restoration performed (no restoration has been performed to this point). Learn More about condition grades
