An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Smilin' Through, the 1932 Sidney Franklin romantic love triangle melodrama ("From the play by Allen L. Martin"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a pretty wacky story of a man whose fiancee was killed by her insanely jealous ex-boyfriend on their wedding day, and years later, the man is now in charge of his niece, who looks exactly like his fiancee, and she is engaged to marry a man who looks exactly like the man who killed his fiancee, and naturally, he does all he can to break them up!) starring Norma Shearer (in a dual role), Fredric March (in a dual role), Leslie Howard, O.P. Heggie, Ralph Forbes, and Beryl Mercer NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card is from the very first release of this movie in 1932. There are undated cards that are sometimes sold as originals, but they are actually from the 1941 re-release. How do we know this? The reissue title card says "once more to present", but the reissue scenes do not give an indication of being re-releases, although the font of the movie's title changed to a simpler font. However, we were able to determine for sure that they are from a 1941 re-release because we had the one-sheet from the same re-release, and based on that poster's litho number, we are certain that this re-release took place in 1941. Interestingly, the re-make of this movie (which starred Jeanette MacDonald & Brian Aherne) was also released in 1941. The poster's tagline indicates that audiences wanted to see the older version of the film, and we imagine that both could have been playing at the same time (which may have been very confusing to audiences)! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. The card had faint water staining in the top right corner, almost entirely in the blank borders. It had a pinhole in the center of the top blank border. It had a few scuffs and smudges in the middle left, in March's shoulder and the background next to it, and also in the middle right, in Shearer's hair. Someone lightly bleached and pressed the card and performed very slight restoration to the above without backing the card, and it displays well. Learn More about condition grades
