Auction History Result 6f0297 LESSON IN JEALOUSY 39x55 special poster 1913 Sidney Drew, Clara Kimball Young, ultra rare! Date Sold 4/9/2024![]() Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 39 1/4" x 55" [100 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) Lesson in Jealousy, the 1913 Harry Lambart silent romantic comedy melodrama short ("If jealousy is her criterion for love, her husband convinces her he is some lover. Uncle John and his friend help him. It teaches a lesson and creates a laugh.") starring Sidney Drew, Clara Kimball Young, and Harry T. Morey. Note that Sidney Drew was the brother of famed stage actor John Drew Jr., who never made any movies, and he was the uncle of John, Lionel, and Ethel Barrymore. The Barrymore siblings were told by their grandmother that he was adopted, but they felt that was not a true story, due to a great family resemblance. He started in movies around 1913, when he appeared in a number of "Jerry" comedies (about a man and his relatives), and he made a large number of movies until his passing in 1919, and once he was married, he often appeared with his wife as "Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew". After his first wife died in 1914, he quickly married again, this time to a woman less than half his age, named Lucille McVey. She quickly used her husband's connections to start producing, directing, and starring in comedy shorts, billed as "Mrs. Sidney Drew" (which the first Mrs. Drew had also been billed as). Sidney Drew passed away in 1919, and Mrs. Drew passed away six years later. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this special poster! Not only that, but the only other poster from this movie we have ever auctioned was a U.S. sheet 15 years ago, and that poster was in "fair" condition, and it sold for $301. Also note that this is a VERY unusual poster from the early 1910s! In the earliest days of movie distribution, the studios (especially The Vitagraph Company) temporarily hit on the idea of creating one poster for use in several European countries, and to make that work, they put the title of the movie in three different languages at the top of the poster! The languages are Italian, German, and French. This is a rare opportunity to purchase an extremely early movie poster! Condition: fair to good. The poster is very fragile and it has darkening on the folds with paper loss in the left of the top fold. Learn More about condition grades ![]()
