The Blue Gardenia, the 1953 Fritz Lang romantic crime murder film noir ("This was the clinch-and-kill girl they called 'The Blue Gardenia'"; "There was nothing lily-white about her!"; about a woman who gets a "Dear John" letter from her soldier boyfriend overseas, and she goes out with a charming cad, and he makes moves on her, and she kills him in self defense and runs away, and then discovers the police are searching for her as the "Blue Gardenia Killer", named after the flower she left behind) starring Anne Baxter, Richard Conte, Ann Sothern, Raymond Burr, Jeff Donnell, Richard Erdman, George Reeves, and Nat 'King' Cole ("Introducing the new mood melody 'Blue Gardenia'")
