An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman, the 1958 Nathan Juran (billed as "Nathan Hertz") science fiction (sci-fi) giant female monster horror thriller starring Allison Hayes (in the title role as the 50 foot woman), William Hudson, Yvette Vickers, Roy Gordon, George Douglas, and Otto Waldis. Note that the posters for this movie have wonderful Reynold Brown artwork of a giant scantily clad woman standing over a highway, and it is rightly regarded as one of the finest poster images of the 1950s. One wishes one could say the same about the movie itself, but alas, that is not true! But the poster for this movie is surely one of the most memorable ever created! It was purchased many years ago by a collector who intended to display it on his wall "forever", but he recently needed to have a multiple organ transplant to save his life. Now, for the first time he is healthy enough to enjoy a steady diet of outdoor pursuits. He hopes that the new owner of this poster will cherish it as much as he did! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: very good. The poster had some kind of light faint stain in the bottom of the "W" of "WOMAN", extending into the black background below it, and some much smaller tiny stains scattered in the other letters of the title. There was a small tear in the second "T" and the "C" of "ATTACK". There was a 1" tear in the center of the bottom border and some minor wear on the folds, and some very faint stains in the bottom black box. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and the restorer made the decision to NOT paint over all the letters of the title or the black background areas (which would have "evened them out"), because that would have given the poster a "restored" look, which it does not have. When you look close up, you can see signs of the very faint stains in the top and bottom areas, but from any reasonable viewing distance, they are not noticeable or distracting, and this poster looks fantastic!
