An Original Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) Robert Cummings (also known as Bob Cummings) was an actor from the 1930s to the 1980s. He was born Charles Clarence Robert Orville Cummings in Joplin, Missouri in 1910, and he went to drama school and went to New York and passed himself off as a British actor named Blade Stanhope Conway! Amazingly, that worked, and then he went to Hollywood, where he thought they wouldn't want a British actor, so he became Texan Bruce Hutchens! After having a number of small parts in 1935 and 1936, he reverted to his real name, and became a popular comedic actor in the 1930s and 1940s (although he was very memorable in two Alfred Hitchcock movies, "Dial M For Murder" and "Saboteur"), and he is likely best remembered for starring in the extremely popular "The Bob Cummings Show" TV series of the 1950s and 1960s. He was well known for his extremely youthful appearance, which he attributed to eating healthy food and a lot of vitamin supplements. He passed away in 1990 at the age of 80, having had five wives and seven children! AND Nancy Kelly was an actress from the 1920s to the 1970s. Born in Massachusetts to a showbiz mother who wanted to live through her daughter, she became a model and actress as a child, appearing in silent movies, and appearing on Broadway in "Macbeth" at the age of 8. When she became an adult, she signed with 20th Century-Fox and starred in several of their top movies in the late 1930s. She also worked on radio and on stage. She successfully transitioned from young sexy actress to playing older roles, and she created the memorable role of the mother of the murderous child in Maxwell Anderson's stage version of "The Bad Seed", and she recreated that role in the film version in 1956 (she was nominated for an Oscar). She then switched to television. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: Note that this great individual still (and a number of others, both singles and sets) come from a recently discovered collection of mostly 1930s stills (but with some from the 1920s, and some from the 1940s and 1950s) that came from the estate of a longtime journalist who wrote about these movies and visited the sets of many movies and were given these stills at that time. They are all rare original stills from the first release of the movies, and some have cool candid images. We auctioned a similar group of stills from this wonderful collection in our auctions that closed April 12, 2022, and now we are auctioning almost all of the remaining stills from this collection (in singles and sets, just as they were last time). After this set of auctions, there will be only a handful left from this collection, so this is pretty much your last opportunity to acquire these extremely rare stills, including some from movies you almost never see anything from! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
