Le Rouge et le Noir (released in the U.S. in 1958 as "Rouge et noir", "Scarlet and Black" and "The Red and the Black"), the 1954 Claude Autant-Lara French/Italian crime melodrama (based on the novel by Stendhal; set in France in the post-Napoleonic era, about an ambitious young man who wants to succeed at any price, and his romantic entanglements both help and hurt him) starring Danielle Darrieux, Gerard Philipe, Antonella Lualdi, Jean Mercure and Jean Martinelli

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had a blank top that was mostly trimmed off, with minor fold and border wear, and a pinhole in each corner. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
