An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #1 ("The Spy Escapes!") One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

The Secret of the Submarine, the 1915 George L. Sargent silent military action mystery thriller serial ("Mutual Special Feature") starring Juanita Hansen, Tom Chatterton, Hylda Hollis, Lamar Johnstone, and George Clancey. Note that the movie paper for this title has a wonderful 1915 submarine silhouette behind the title! Note that not only was this a very early serial movie, and likely the first movie to be set in a modern day submarine (submarines played a big part in World War I, with German U-boats sinking the Lusitania, which hastened the U.S. entering World War I), plus the movie had a female in the lead role!

Condition: very good to fine. The poster had very minor fold wear. There were some pieces of tape on the back of the borders, and on the back of the crossfolds, but they did not affect the front, and they were of course removed prior to linenbacking. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking (I can't imagine the poster could have survived 90+ years in much better condition!). The poster was well backed, and looks great!
