An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) They Stooge to Conga, the 1943 Del Lord World War II (WWII) Nazi espionage comedy short ("For long, loud laughs!"; in this entry, the Stooges are repairmen who are hired to fix a doorbell at a house that is also a secret Nazi base; they ruin the house while trying to do the repair, and they also manage to accidentally sink a Nazi submarine remotely) starring The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Curly Howard), Lloyd Bridges, Stanley Brown, and Vernon Dent NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Three Stooges collectors place a high premium on posters from the shorts that had Curly in them, before he was replaced by his brother Shemp. However, those posters rarely come up for sale, and we have only auctioned a small number of them over all our years of auctioning. Now we are auctioning this one-sheet with Curly from 1943, and also another "Curly" one-sheet from 1943 ("Back From the Front") in a separate auction (that one is in Part I of this auction, because it is linenbacked), and we have never auctioned either of these one-sheets before! Condition: good to very good. The poster has four brown stains in the left and right blank borders and only blank white paper is affected. There is water staining at the left and right ends of the top fold, extending into the background area on both sides. There is a small stain at the top and bottom of the "HIGH EXPLOSIVES" box, with one stain slightly extending into the top of the "I". There are staple holes around the edges. There are some creases along the folds, with the tiniest paper loss at the crossfolds. There is paper loss in the right of the top blank border and someone taped a piece of paper to that area. I detail all of these defects because of the value of the poster, but almost all of them are either in the blank borders, or the sort that respond really well to restoration. After this poster is restored by a talented professional, it will display wonderfully and require very little paint restoration in the image. Learn More about condition grades
