eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result k088 FOOD FOR SCANDAL half-sheet movie poster '20 Wanda Hawley, Cruze Date Sold 2/28/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 26") (Learn More) Food for Scandal, the 1920 James Cruze silent San Francisco California romantic comedy melodrama ("From the play 'Beverly's Balance' by Paul Kester"; about an orphaned woman from a formerly rich family who goes to San Francisco and gets a job in a chorus line, where she becomes known as "The Kissing Girl", which causes her straight-laced attorney boyfriend to break up with her, but everything works out in the end) starring Wanda Hawley, Harrison Ford (obviously, not the same Harrison Ford that we know as an actor today, but a very popular leading man of the 1920s), Ethel Grey Terry, Margaret McWade, Lester Cuneo, and Minnie Devereaux. Note that Lester Cuneo had been a major comedy star at the Selig Studio in 1912, but after just a few movies, he chose to re-invent himself as a cowboy star, and had success there as well, also playing dramatic roles at the same time. He served in World War I (WWI), and returned to Hollywood and again began making westerns, playing a character billed as "The Smiling Daredevil". But by the early 1920s, his westerns were less and less successful, and after a series of personal and professional failures, Cuneo could not get any parts at all, and he committed suicide in 1925. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 22" x 26". Also note that this half-sheet is very old, and it would not make sense to attempt to roll it, as the paper is fragile enough that rolling it might damage it. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Note that the poster is not so fragile that it is "falling to pieces"! If it is handled carefully, it can absolutely be framed and enjoyed without any worry. Condition: poor. Some of the left and right blank borders was trimmed off. There is mold, mildew, nail holes, and tape around the edges of the poster. The poster has darkened unevenly.
