An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Fear and Desire, the 1953 Stanley Kubrick military melodrama (about four soldiers trapped behind enemy lines, and they want to get back to their own country, but that is complicated by the presence of a beautiful young woman and the nearby location of an enemy general that one of the four wants to kill) starring Frank Silvera, Kenneth Harp, Paul Mazursky, Steve Coit, Virginia Leith, and David Allen. Note that this movie is the first feature film by Stanley Kubrick (after several shorts), and original release movie paper of any kind from this movie is beyond rare (it certainly had a very limited release, if it had any regular release at all in 1953).
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that this still says "Stanley Kubrick's 'FEAR AND DESIRE' a Joseph Burstyn Release" at the bottom. It is quite possible it is not from 1953, but is from a later release of the movie (but if so, it would have had to have been very early, because later on, Kubrick denounced the movie as amateurish and blocked any release of the movie, and his estate does the same!). If it is a re-release, it is still extremely scarce, because we have only had ONE item from this movie in the last nine years! Note that because Kubrick was a photographer turned director, it seems INCREDIBLY likely that this image was taken by Kubrick himself (although we of course can't prove that!). If anyone knows more about this release of this movie or this still, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good to very good. There are some creases around the edges, with a few scattered in the image, and there is a small tear at bottom center that was repaired with tape, and the tape has slightly yellowed on the front.
