More than your heart has ever known!"; "Screenplay by Ernest Lehman"; "Music by Richard Rodgers, Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, From their musical play, Based on 'Anna and the King of Siam' by Margaret Landon"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Deborah Kerr (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Yul Brynner (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as King Mongkut of Siam), Rita Moreno, Martin Benson, and Rex Thompson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster received much water staining in the lower right, including in the bottom of Kerr's dress. It seems likely that this water staining occurred AFTER the poster was linenbacked. There was some lesser amounts of water staining in the rest of the poster. If I owned this poster, I would have it removed from its current linen backing and have it properly paperbacked. During that time, a restorer could either remove some of the water stains through chemical means, or could paint over the stains. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above carefully!
