(released in other English-speaking countries as "Hallelujah, I'm a Tramp!"), the 1933 Lewis Milestone New York City Depression era hobo musical comedy ("The story that's new because it's different!"; "The first woman he had ever known drifted into his life--and out again. Tears? You'll shed a few! [So did he!] Laughs? Try and control 'em. But it's the story that will get you as it moves in rhythm with your heart."; "His home was the park! His roof--the sky!"; written by Ben Hecht; features Rodgers and Hart music, both of whom have a bit part in the movie!) starring Al Jolson ("In his first picture ever done in rhythmic dialogue!"), Madge Evans, Frank Morgan, Harry Langdon, Chester Conklin, Edgar Connor (black African American entertainer who only appeared in this movie and a very few others), and Louise Carver NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this herald, and only one in the last 20 years. One of those two examples has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! Note that this herald has information from an Indian theater overprinted on the back, and because it has the non-U.S. title, we know it was printed somewhere other than the U.S., perhaps in India, or perhaps in England. Note that this is from a wonderful collection of heralds we were recently consigned. We auctioned the first 30 from this collection (the very best ones) in our just-concluded April Major Auction. We will auction more from this collection every four weeks until they are all sold, and this time there are 43 different ones (all are in separate auctions), and they include many that we have either never before auctioned or only auctioned once or twice before.. The collection only included one of each herald, so on the rare ones, it may be quite some time before we offer the same title again! Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
