An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28 1/4" x 41" [72 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Gang War, the 1940 Leo C. Popkin black African American New York City Harlem gangster crime thriller starring Ralph Cooper, Gladys Snyder, Reginald Fenderson (billed as "Reggie Fenderson"), Laurence Criner, and Monte Hawley. Note that the IMDb lists this as a Toddy picture, but it is yet one more case where the IMDb is completely wrong, because actually, like many other late 1930s and early 1940s black movies, Toddy picked up the distribution rights for this movie, and then re-released it as one of their own in the 1940s. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this item is from the very rare original 1940 Million Dollar release of this movie, and NOT from the 1940s Toddy re-release (and items from both the first release and the Toddy re-release are both incredibly rare). Prior to being consigned this one-sheet, we had only sold lobby cards from the first release, and no posters, and we have never even had any item from the re-release. We previously auctioned this poster in 2016, and it has been reconsigned to us, so it is still the only one-sheet we have ever auctioned!. Also note that this one-sheet measures 28 1/4" x 41" [72 x 104 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had paper loss above the middle crossfold, affecting the policeman's wrist. It had small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the bottom crossfold. It had some creases and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds, and some tiny pieces of paper loss in small parts of the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
