Date Sold 10/3/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Letter (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]) (Learn More) Tippi Hedren (born Nathalie Kay Hedren) is an actress from the 1950s to the present. She is best remembered for starring in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and Marnie. She is also the mother of actress Melanie Griffith. In 1971, she was making a movie that involved a lion, and she learned of their poor treatment, which began her devotion to wild animals. In 1981, she spent $17 million to film the movie "Roar", about the treatment of big cats, and it only took in $2 million at the box office. She has devoted all the years since to helping wild animals. As of 2022, she is still alive at the age of 92! Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Tippi Hedren (she apologizes for not having time to talk about Marnie, because she is in post-production on "Roar"). Our consignor was a freelance journalist in the 1970s and 1980s, and he wrote a long letter to Miss Hedren, who replied with this 1-page letter, which she signed her name on, and which he has now consigned to us. Our consignor preserved a photocopy of his original letter to Miss Hedren, and we have not reproduced it, but we will send it to the winner of this auction together with the signed letter.
