An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Lady at Midnight, the 1948 Sam Newfield (billed as "Sherman Scott") Pathe crime film noir ("The Prize...one million dollars! The Pawn...and innocent child! The Price...cold, brutal, Murder!"; "The clock ticked off Murder At Midnight"; "This child is worth a million dollars ... If they live to spend it!"; "Screenplay and Original Story by Richard Sale"; about a couple who adopt a child, not knowing she is the heiress to a fortune, but then a murder gets them involved) starring Richard Denning, Frances Rafferty, Lora Lee Michel, Ralph Dunn, Nana Bryant, and Jack Searle. Note that Lora Lee Michel, who played the adopted child in this movie, had a very unusual personal life! This was her first movie, made at 8 years old, and she herself was adopted, and her birth mother tried to regain custody of her, but lost. She made twelve movies in two years and then ran away from her adoptive parents, saying that they had beaten her and forced her to make movies! The judge let them keep custody of her, but only when they let her "retire", and they moved back to Texas where they were from, and Miss Michel only had a few more acting roles. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There are some creases and tears of varying lengths (generally 1" or less but some are larger) around the edges. Many of the tears or other defects as described above have been repaired with several pieces of tape from the back and front and there is some tape on the front that is not put there for any restoration purposes.
