Dell Publishing is a publisher of books, magazines and comic books which was founded in 1921 by George T. Delacorte Jr. Important Added Info: Note that this is a bound volume of four Four Color Comics (2nd Series #40 through #43) published by Dell Publishing in 1944. Where did this bound volume come from? Apparently, someone at the company had bound volumes like these created, likely soon after the comics were published (this bound volume has the names of the individual comics contained within printed in bold on the spine of the bound volume). This bound volume has four comics in it: Barney Google and Snuffy Smith Four Color #40, Mother Goose and Nursery Rhyme Comics Four Color #41, Tiny Tim Four Color #42, and Popeye Four Color #43. It is one of three bound volumes of comic books we are currently auctioning, all from the same consignor. He obtained these many decades ago when Dell Publishing was doing some "house cleaning"! The comic books are extremely fragile and darkened around the edges. The covers are not quite as fragile, because they were printed on better paper. Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". Note that we have pictured both covers and some interior page of this comic, which means that you can hopefully see most defects the comic has, AND get a good sense of its condition. While we gave the comic an overall condition grade (and sometimes describe the defects in words) please rely on the actual images of the comic we provide here to help you decide what YOU think its condition is, and then bid or not bid based on what you are seeing in the images. And if you have ANY doubt as to what the condition of the comic is, or whether you want it in the condition it is is, then please do not bid, as we do not want any retracted bids or returns if at all possible. If in doubt, do not bid!. Condition: good. The bound volume surely originally contained comic books in excellent condition, but due to how they were stored, they are fragile and brown around the edges. The covers are not nearly as fragile, because they were printed on better paper. Look closely at our images before bidding on this bound volume of very rare comic books.
