An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #8 ("Master Strikes") One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Three Musketeers, the 1933 Colbert Clark & Armand Schaefer Foreign Legion military action adventure serial ("A Modern Version"; "A Smashing Serial In 12 Thrilling Chapters"; loosely based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas) starring John Wayne, Ruth Hall, Jack Mulhall, Raymond Hatton, Ralph Bushman (billed as "Francis X. Bushman Jr."), Noah Beery Jr., Lon Chaney Jr. (billed under his given name of "Creighton Chaney"), and Robert Warwick. Note that this is a then-modern day version of the Dumas classic, with Mulhall, Hatton, and Bushman as the modern day Three Musketeers and John Wayne as the modern day D'Artagnan. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded with two vertical folds evenly spaced 1/3 of the way through the poster, and the regular three horizontal folds. The poster had creases, tears, separation, and some tiny paper loss on the vertical foldlines and the middle horizontal foldline, and tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. There was a lesser amount of wear on the top and bottom horizontal foldlines. The borders of the poster had creases, smudges, small tears, and small areas of paper loss. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed. You can see slight signs of the restoration along the foldlines, but it is not distracting. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, I think just about an John Wayne collector would be happy to display this great poster on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
