An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) Rebel Without a Cause, the classic 1955 Nicholas Ray romantic troubled teen family relationship melodrama ("The reception committee for the new kid on the block!"; "The overnight sensation of 'East of Eden' becomes the star of the year!"; "Warner Brothers put all the force of the screen into a challenging drama of today's juvenile violence!"; "Warner Bros'. challenging drama of today's dammit, juvenile violence!"; "...and they both come from 'good' families"; "Their families gave them everything -but a good example!"; "This is Jim Stark, teenager --from a 'good' family--"; "He was new on the block, the pretty girl belonged to the leader of the gang, and the leader of the gang called him 'chicken' to his face..."; "This is how a teen-war starts!"; "Jim Stark - a kid from a 'good' family - what makes him tick... Like a bomb?") starring James Dean ("The star sensation of 'East of Eden'!"), Natalie Wood (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Sal Mineo (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Jim Backus, Edward Platt, Dennis Hopper (in a bit part as one of the "goons"), Ann Doran, Corey Allen, William Hopper, Jack Grinnage, Frank Mazzola, and Ian Wolfe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Condition: good. This poster has one of the strangest "defects" I have ever seen! The entire white blouse of Natalie Wood is on a separate piece! It has been glued to the back of the poster with a white piece of paper placed all around it (the white paper is larger than the blouse by a little bit in all directions). Normally, I would think that this was just some sort of amateur restoration, but what is really weird is that the blouse area appears to absolutely be from an original printed "Rebel Without a Cause" three-sheet! One possible explanation would be that the blouse on this poster was damaged or defaced, and that someone had another example of the poster that had different damage, and they cut out the blouse portion from the other poster and placed it into this one. But the problem with that theory is that the edge of the top of her dress is not glued down, and you can lift it up and see that the blouse extends past the top of the dress, which would not be possible if it came from another poster. I wonder if maybe posters were originally printed where her blouse was a different color, or possibly sexier, and they "repaired" some already printed posters in this way, until new posters with the "right" blouse could be printed. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Other than the above bizarre "defect" (and it may not be a defect in the traditional sense!), the poster was glued together into a single piece. Some collector put some small pieces of tape along the back of some tears and at some crossfolds. There were many creases along the foldlines and some smudges and faint stains on some foldlines, and some amateur restorer tried to touch up the solid background areas, but it does not match very well. The collector stored the poster rolled up into one long poster in a tube, and we will send it that way. Please do not bid on this poster unless you have carefully read the above, and fully understand the odd condition of this poster, and are willing to accept the poster "as is", or will have it restored! This week we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus there are some defects (like creasing, tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image. Therefore we strongly recommend that you BOTH read our written description of the item, AND ALSO look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.
