An Original Vintage Sunday News Comics Page (measures 15 1/2" x 21 1/4" [39 x 54 cm]) (Learn More)

Little Nemo In Slumberland was full-page weekly comic strip, created by Winsor McCay, that started in 1905 which depicted Nemo having fantastic dreams that were interrupted by his awakening in the final panel. The strip is considered McCay's masterpiece for its experiments with the form of the comics page, its use of color and perspective, its timing and pacing, the size and shape of its panels, and its architectural and other details. Little Nemo in Slumberland ran in the New York Herald from 1905 to 1911. The strip was renamed In the Land of Wonderful Dreams when McCay brought it to William Randolph Hearst's New York American, where it ran from 1911 until 1914. When McCay returned to the Herald in 1924, he revived the strip, and it ran under its original title to 1927. AND Monkey Shines of Marseleen, the early 1900s newspaper comic strip created by Norman Jennett. If anyone knows more about this comic, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Winsor McCay/Norman Jennett
Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a group of six full color Sunday newspaper comic pages from between 1907 and 1913, which we are currently auctioning in six separate auctions, and of course they are all extremely rare! This comic page measures 15 1/2" x 21 1/4", so it will need to be sent in a much larger than normal flat package (it would make no sense to roll it as it would surely damage it). Please bear this in mind before bidding. Also note that the front and back of this page have different comics, so we have pictured both sides, but of course the auction is for a single Sunday comic page.

Condition: good. Someone trimmed the page, eliminating the blank borders and a little bit of the newspaper's name at top right. There is tiny paper loss in the bottom right blank corner and the page is fragile.
