The poster was "starch backed", which means that it was moistened with a special starch solution, attached to a backing, allowed to dry, and then the poster had touch up while it was backed, and afterward, the backing was removed. The poster was never folded. This particular poster had pinholes, tears, and paper loss in the corners, extending into the top corners. The poster was starch backed by a really talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the defects in the corners described above, and it now displays really well!
