Note that when this movie was first announced by RKO Pictures in 1942, it was called "The Cat People" in the first trade ads, but it was released simply as "Cat People". Important Added Info: Note that while we have previously auctioned thirteen first release lobby cards from this movie, we have only auctioned two in the last 9 years! We have only twice before auctioned this first release title card, and those were in 2012, when it sold for $3,300 in "very good" condition, and in 2018, when it sold for $1,900 in "good" condition. Now we are currently auctioning seven first release lobby cards from this movie, including this title card, in seven separate auctions! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has pinholes and staple holes in the corners and in the center of the left and right, with one tiny pair of staple holes in the cat's back and in Simon's face, above and below her eye, but all four of those tiny staple holes are truly very tiny and not very noticeable. It had some tiny tears, smudges, and scuffs around the edges that only slightly entered the image area. Someone many years ago performed slight amateur restoration to the borders without backing the card. Since almost all of the defects are in the borders, the card can certainly be displayed as it is, or one might choose to have more restoration performed, either with or without backing the card.
