An Autographed 5 1/4" x 7" [13 x 18 cm] Album Page (Learn More) Warner Oland was a Swedish actor from the 1910s to the 1930s. He was best remembered for his starring roles in all the early Fox Charlie Chan movies. 20th Century Fox continued making Chan movies after Oland's, with his substitute Sidney Toler, who, like Oland, was not Asian, but performed in yellowface (though Oland did have Mongolian ancestors). Some of Mr. Oland's other movies include: The Jazz Singer, Shanghai Express, Werewolf in London, and Tell It to the Marines. Oland passed away 1938 at the age of 58 from bronchial pneumonia. He also unfortunately had symptoms of dementia, which may have been related to his alcoholism. Important Added Info: This album page has been personally autographed (signed) by Warner Oland! The person who acquired the autograph added the date they acquired it and the place at the top of the autograph, which makes it all the more likely it was acquired in person. It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
