An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/4" [22 x 29 cm]) (Learn More) Street & Smith's Picture-Play ("America's Favorite Magazine of the Screen"; "The Best Magazine of the Screen"; "Little Journeys to Filmland"; "The Film Magazine for Moderns"; "The Honest Magazine of the Screen"), one of the many movie magazines (first published in the early 1910s, when it measures 6 3/4" x 10") sold to the public (within a few years it would go to the larger size that became standard among movie magazines). Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many black and white images throughout. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! Note that in December of 1939, the publishers of the magazine drastically revamped it and tried to give it a new updated look, with a complete makeover! There was a subtitle under the title that read "The Film Magazine for Moderns (News - Pictures - Fashions - Beauty)". We have no idea of whether this increased circulation or not. Important Added Info: Note that the magazine includes a really cool full-page image showing the stars of Hell's Angels (we have pictured that page). What is really cool about it is that the image shows Ben Lyon, James Hall, and Greta Nissen, who was the original star of the movie, but when it was remade in sound, Nissen's foreign accent caused her to be replaced by Jean Harlow! Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, a picture of an interior page (usually the table of contents page, if there is one), and a picture of one interior two-page spread (but we didn't make much effort to find the best one!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good. There are two small tape repairs on the spine. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
