An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Spiral Staircase, the 1946 Robert Siodmak serial killer psychological crime murder thriller ("Fear that cannot be voiced! Love that cannot be told!"; "Vibrant beyond suspense!"; "Based on the Novel 'Some Must Watch' by Ethel Lina White"; about a serial killer who targets women who are disabled!) starring Dorothy McGuire, George Brent, Ethel Barrymore (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Kent Smith, Rhonda Fleming, Gordon Oliver, Elsa Lanchester, James Bell, and Rhys Williams NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had tiny paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds and very minor fold wear. There were a very few small tears and faint stains around the edges of the poster. There is a tiny square of transparent tape at the left end of the bottom foldline just at the edge of the image. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed (strangely, the restorer did not remove the tiny piece of tape at the left end of the bottom foldline, but any restorer could remove it without re-backing the poster), and the poster looks great! Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
