Wellman romantic crime murder courtroom legal lawyer melodrama (about a woman who has a boyfriend in trouble, and she kills a man who is threatening him, and she is put on trial, and during the trial, you see flashbacks that show her entire life) starring Loretta Young (in the title role as Mary), Ricardo Cortez, Franchot Tone, Andy Devine, and Una Merkel AND The Devil's In Love, the 1933 William Dieterle Foreign Legion war thriller starring Loretta Young, Victor Jory, Vivienne Osborne, Herbert Mundin, David Manners, J. Carrol Naish, Akim Tamiroff, and Bela Lugosi (in an uncredited role as the military prosecutor!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have auctioned many hundreds of "key book stills" over the years, but this is the very first time we have auctioned an actual key book itself! This particular book is for two different Loretta Young movies from 1933, Midnight Mary and Devil's in Love. The book contains a total of 74 stills from the two movies. Each of them are bound into the book with linen tape on one edge. Decades ago, studios started to throw these out (they had many volumes of each on all their movies, created to use for reference for any of many different purposes, including knowing exactly what costumes stars wore in what scene, etc). Some collectors "rescued" many of these from the trash, but in almost all cases, they took the stills out of the binding (they are easily distinguished by the piece of linen tape that they have on one edge). But this particular key book survived intact, which is pretty remarkable! Please note that we have pictured eight of the stills (some from each movie), but of course, the winner of this auction will get a complete key book volume, with all 74 key book stills! NOTE: On rare occasions, large lots of 9 or more black-and-white stills like this one can sometimes have one or more duplicated stills, but since we only picture 8 of the stills, if there are duplicates, they are likely not pictured. We try to note when this happens, but we may not catch it every time, so please do not bid on such lots unless you can accept this possibility. Condition: very good. The binding is quite worn, with separation and some loss at the spine and around the edges (someone put some clear tape on the spine to help hold it together). The stills themselves are generally in pretty nice condition. Some of them have two punch holes in the left border in addition to the cloth tape along one edge. Learn More about condition grades
