Revues featured extravagant costumes, sets and effects, and often nude women. In 1926, Josephine Baker caused a sensation at the Folies Bergere by dancing in a costume consisting of a skirt made of a string of artificial bananas and little else. It has been the stage for many other famous acts including: Maurice Chevalier, Fernandel, W.C. Fields, Ella Fitzgerald, and many, many more! Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases, smudges, and scuffs scattered in the image and scuffs, creases, and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster onto a somewhat thin linen many years ago, and there are creases and tears down the left and right of the excess linen, but they do not affect the actual poster.
