An Original Vintage 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] News Photo (Learn More)

Flag Is Born, the 1946 Luther Adler Broadway stage play production (of the work by Ben Hecht, about the founding of Israel) starring Paul Muni, Marlon Brando, George Baxter, Celia Adler, and William Allyn. Note that a number of very prominent Jewish actors took part in this play, and Marlon Brando, who was not Jewish, took part as well, because he believed in the cause! Brando and Paul Muni had no scenes together in the play, because Muni's character dies at the end of Act I, and Brando's character starts in Act II, but Brando noted in his autobiography that he was greatly influenced by Muni's performance and acting style!

Important Added Info: Note that this news photo, which measures 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], shows both of these great stars in the same image. As noted above, they never appear together in the play, so this candid image taken the publicize the play is the only way to have them both together!

Condition: good. The still was used in a newspaper or magazine and there are paint enhancements within the image, so the image would show better in the printed article. Some of the paint at top center has smudged over the woman's face (see our image).
