An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Snake Pit, the classic 1949 Anatole Litvak (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) psychological psychiatric mental illness romantic melodrama ("An achievement born in the raging elements of life's emotions!"; "Based on the Novel by Mary Jane Ward"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; about a mentally ill schizophrenic woman who is placed in a mental institution, quite daring for its time, and one of the few movies ever to give an accurate portrayal of schizophrenia and its treatment at that time; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Olivia De Havilland (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mark Stevens, Leo Genn, Celeste Holm, Glenn Langan, Helen Craig, Leif Erickson, Beulah Bondi, Lee Patrick, Howard Freeman, Natalie Schafer, Ruth Donnelly, Katherine Locke, Frank Conroy, and Minna Gombell. Note that Betsy Blair has an important minor role as a mute patient who talks at the film's conclusion, and also note that Jan Clayton sings the song "Going Home" at a dance in the movie (this was the song that was played at FDR's funeral, and was based on both Negro spirituals and music of Antonin Dvorak). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. The theater that used this slide wrote the days the movie was playing in the play dates section at the bottom of the glass. Otherwise, the cardboard holder has staining around the staples, but the glass slide itself is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
