An Original Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) I Was Monty's Double (also known as "Hell, Heaven or Hoboken"), the 1959 John Guillermin English World War II (WWII) military biography melodrama ("The men who won the war! The motion picture beyond the ordinary to win extraordinary acclaim!"; "The fierce and fantastic stranger-than-fiction adventure that turned the tide in World War II's tumultuous battle history!"; "... And in history's hugest hoax she was the neatest trick!"; "'Let's give 'em Hell, Heaven or Hoboken!' The battlecry that started history's boldest hoax - and fiercest adventure!"; "The battlecry that triggered the boldest deception in history!"; "You won't believe your eyes!"; "The girl who knew more answers than she should have!"; about the true story of an actor who is persuaded to pose as Gen. Montgomery in order to divert German intelligence in North Africa) starring M.E. Clifton-James (the real-life soldier who impersonated Monty, and who plays as both himself and General Montgomery), John Mills, Cecil Parker, Patrick Allen, Patrick Holt, "and a cast of thousands!" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a country of origin trade ad for this English movie. Also note that this is 1 of 29 great two-page trade ads taken out of Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazines. Studios would run these elaborate 2-page ads in issues of this magazine, and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This 2-page trade ad was removed from a 1958 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall. The back of those two pages have text or ads for other movies from that time, and we have not pictured those back pages, because, of course, the primary interest to bidders is the great two-page color ad, which measures 11" x 17". Earlier in 2018, we auctioned 18 similar 2-page English trade ads, and all but a handful auctioned for $20 each or more, and two sold for over $100 each! Condition: very good. The trade ad was removed from a magazine, and there is paper residue on the back of the center of the pages, but it is otherwise in pretty nice condition (see our image).
