A Folded French Special Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 31 1/2" [60 x 80 cm]) (Learn More) Elle ne se Voyait pas Vivre avec un Seropositif (literally translates to "She Didn't See Herself Living with an HIV positive"), the 2000s French poster created to educate people about the consequences of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) which causes AIDS (Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome) and how to protect themselves from the disease. Note that when AIDS gripped the world in 1981, local authorities, healthcare providers and governments quickly created health posters as a way to inform people about the new disease. These public health campaigns continue to this day, and the posters show the different tactics, images (some quite provocative) and messages used by various countries and health agencies in their attempts to educate people about the AIDS/HIV threat. Almost 35 years after French Institut Pasteur scientists discovered the HIV-1 virus (a discovery that was recognized by the 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine), AIDS remains an unacceptable scourge, particularly affecting the poorest countries and populations. 37 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the world and, in France, there are another 6000 new infections per year. Antiretrovirals now provide good control of the disease but not a cure. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
