An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17"; 12 pages) (Learn More) Midnight Cowboy, the classic 1969 John Schlesinger (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) New York City male prostitution melodrama ("Based on the novel by James Leo Herlihy"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a naive Texan who moves to New York to become a male prostitute for wealthy women, and ends up in a close relationship with a male street hustler) starring Dustin Hoffman (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Ratso Rizzo), Jon Voight (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Joe Buck), Brenda Vaccaro, John McGiver, Ruth White, Sylvia Miles (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Barnard Hughes, Viva, Gastone Rossilli, Ultra Violet, and Bob Balaban. This was the first (and only) adult movie to win a Best Picture Oscar. Dustin Hoffman not winning the Best Actor Academy Award is certainly the biggest mistake in the history of the Academy Awards!
