Note that fantasy artist H.R. Giger did the wonderful art that was used to create the alien and the alien planet, but his art was not used on any of the regular posters, only on special prints created after the movie became a hit! Giger's months of work that went into the design of the infamous alien creature (and alien environment) that was used in the film.
