An Original Vintage Japanese Film Program (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/4" [18 x 26 cm]; 12 pages) (Learn More) Shichinin No Samurai (released in the U.S. in 1956 as "The Magnificent Seven", and in other English-speaking countries as "The Seven Samurai"), the classic 1954 Akira Kurosawa Japanese hired-professionals-save-a-tiny-town action epic (this great movie was the basis for the equally classic "The Magnificent Seven", it won the New York Film Critics award and was nominated for two Oscars!) starring Toshiro Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Seiji Miyaguchi, Yoshio Inaba, and Minoru Chiaki. Note that this film was first released in the U.S. under the title "The Magnificent Seven". We're not sure when the U.S. title was changed to the now familiar "The Seven Samurai", but it was certainly before the 1960 "The Magnificent Seven" was released (we have found newspaper ads from 1957 that still use the original title). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this first release program was created for use in any large city in Japan (there is another version for use specifically in Tokyo, and in 2017 we auctioned an example of that version which has a different cover and it sold for $477). We have only previously auctioned one example of this Japanese program, and it has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example of this program we have ever auctioned! Also, note that this is a "country of origin" program for this Japanese movie! Also note that we have provided an image of the front cover, the back cover, and an interior two-page spread of this 12-page program. You can use these images to determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized images, but realize that there are pages you are not seeing. Condition: very good. The covers have some creases and faint darkening in the background. The interior pages are in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
