An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/4") (Learn More) La Belle et la Bete (released in the U.S. in 1947 as "The Beauty and the Beast"), the classic 1946 Jean Cocteau French romantic fantasy adventure (based on the classic fairy tale by Madame Leprince de Beaumont; about a handsome prince who has a spell put on him that turns him into a beast, and he can't change back unless a beautiful woman loves him as he is!) starring Jean Marais (in a dual role as both la Bete and the Prince), Josette Day (in the title role as Belle), Mila Parely, Nane Germon, Michael Auclair, and Marcel Andre. Note that this movie had wonderful special effects (both by 1946 standards, and even by present day standards) and that it is one of the best loved fantasy movies of all time. In 1991, Walt Disney turned this into an animated feature length musical, and it has since been turned into a Broadway show and a live action movie, but this version still remains the best of all! Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. a large portion of the lower left corner of the poster is missing. Otherwise, the poster is in good to very good condition with creases, scuffs and some small tears on the foldlines and tears, pinholes, and smudges around the edges of the poster. Obviously, the missing paper is a major defect, but fortunately, what is missing is primarily solid black, with just a little writing and none of the image missing. A talented restorer could (using an image of a complete poster as a guide) restore the missing portion and make this poster look great, without much paint anywhere on the poster (except on the re-created portion).
