An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

Midnight Shadow, the 1939 George Randol black African American detective mystery crime comedy starring Frances Redd (billed as "Frances Redd 'The Cinderella Girl'"), Edward Brandon, Clinton Rosemond, Jesse Lee Brooks, Buck Woods, and Richard Bates (billed as "Buck Woods and Richard Bates [Coaldust and Ashes]"). Note that, in 1938, George Randol Productions was founded by George Randol, who was a black actor who had appeared in a few earlier movies, including The Green Pastures and Harlem on the Prairie the two preceding years. In 1937, he had written and produced Dark Manhattan, an all-black movie, and that led him to form his own company and make Rhythm Rodeo in 1938, Double Deal in 1939, and then this movie. That was his final movie that he was connected with in any way, and we don't know why his career came to a screeching halt, but he lived for decades more, passing away in 1973. If anyone knows more about George Randol or this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
