An Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 22 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has one page. (Learn More) I Dream Too Much, the 1935 John Cromwell romantic musical comedy ("Open the floodgates of your heart for a new romantic thrill!... Lily Pons!... Brilliant, beautiful, irresistible... As the girl who fought her way from the tinsel of the night clubs to the top-most rungs of fame!"; "Music by Jerome Kern, Composer of 'Roberta'"; the old story of a struggling young composer who meets a pretty singer and they impulsively marry; but he can't get work, and she becomes a major singing star, which causes much friction between them) starring Lily Pons, Henry Fonda (second billed in his third movie role!), Eric Blore, Osgood Perkins, Lucien Littlefield, Lucille Ball, Mischa Auer, and Scotty Beckett. Note that Lily Pons was a real life opera star who was drafted into movies after the great success of Jeanette MacDonald, and for her first one, she was given this movie, with music by Jerome Kern, who had composed the music for the hit movie "Roberta" the year before. But she only appeared in three movies between 1935 and 1937, and then returned to opera singing. Also note that Henry Fonda had achieved success on Broadway from 1932 to 1934, and in 1935, he starred in THREE movies (his first three!), surely one of the most remarkable debuts of any movie actor, and he certainly proved that he deserved it, going onto a very long and distinguished career! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. There are water stains scattered on the covers, some of which bleed through to the first few interior pages. Otherwise, the pressbook is in pretty good condition! Learn More about condition grades
