An Undated (probably 1920s) Re-Release Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

A Dog's Life, the 1918 Charlie Chaplin silent screwball comedy ("The one and only Charles Chaplin in his first million dollar picture"; "In his first million dollar comedy"; "His Signature"; "A First National Attraction") starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin; as the Tramp), Edna Purviance, Syd Chaplin, Henry Bergman, Charles Reisner, and Brownie the Wonder Dog (in the title role). Note that Chaplin was so incredibly popular in 1918, that First National had to pay him a million dollars per movie to lure him away from his previous studio (which was a staggering amount of money in 1918)! Naturally, they wanted to get some advertising value out of their massive expenditure, so they advertised the movie as "His First Million Dollar Comedy". Brownie the Wonder Dog got his giant break in 1918 playing the title role in this film. This led to major stardom and a series of shorts with his name above the title. He starred in 53 movies through 1923, at which point he hopefully retired at the peak of his fame!

Condition: very good. There is a crease with a tiny tear in the top right corner. Otherwise, the still is in nice condition! Note that the still is curled and that causes it to not lay completely flat. This causes a "distortion" in the top border of the still because it does not lay completely flat in our scanner, but this distortion is in our digital image, and NOT in the still itself.
