Goodbye, Mr. Chips, the 1939 Sam Wood (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) teacher romantic melodrama ("'The best picture of any year'"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about the career of a wonderful English public school teacher who devotes his life to his pupils) starring Robert Donat (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Mr. Chips), Greer Garson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in her first movie role!), Terry Kilburn, Paul Henreid, and Judith Furse

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had an extra horizontal fold 1 1/2" below the regular one, and there were creases, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss scattered along all the folds, including, unfortunately, in Garson's eyes and small holes in her chin. There was also some damage in Donat's face. There were tears and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
