An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) A New Melody Master Bands, the 1940 Vitaphone musical short subject series. Apparently, this series began in 1932, and Vitaphone made a stock one-sheet that year. They apparently made a completely different stock one-sheet every other year until at least 1948! The ones we have seen are from 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1948 (so we know the series ran for at least those years!). If anyone knows more about this series, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Vitaphone for use for all entries of their "Melody Master Bands" series. Theaters would order this poster, which had a blank area at the bottom. They would be sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the vertical foldline between the top and bottom crossfolds, with minor wear on the other folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
