An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Johnny Mack Brown was an actor from the 1920s to the 1960s. He was star football player in college, and when he graduated, he was signed to a contract by MGM. He initially naturally appeared in sports movies, and graduated to the leads in some A-movies, but in 1930, he starred in "Billy the Kid", and he soon was typecast in westerns, and by the late 1930s, Johnny was solely making B-westerns, mostly for Monogram Pictures, and he was one of the most successful cowboy stars of the 1940s. Some of his movies include: Apache Uprising, Short Grass, and Hollywood Halfbacks. He passed away in 1974 at the age of 70. Important Added Info: Note that "BY HURRELL" is handwritten on the back of the still, but he is not officially credited (but it certainly seems quite reasonable that this fine portrait would have been taken by Hurrell!). Condition: very good. The still has changed to a sepia color, but it is otherwise in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
