An Original 1954 Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12" x 18" [30 x 46 cm]; 12 pages) (Learn More) The Saint's Return (released in the U.S. in 1954 as "The Saint's Girl Friday"), the 1953 Seymour Friedman English England detective mystery crime film noir ("The Saint moves in! Blondes...bullets and blackmail can't stop him!"; "The Saint Hits London, mixing blondes... Bullets... And blackmail!"; "Set up 'The Saint' for the kill!"; "This is the sinner that sets up 'The Saint' for the kill... and sets off the most savage siege of violence London's underworld has ever known!"; "What does it take to stop 'The Saint'? Bullets? Blondes? or blackmail?"; "Based on Characters Created by Leslie Charteris") starring Louis Hayward (in the title role as Simon Templar aka The Saint), Naomi Chance, Sydney Tafler, Charles Victor, Jane Carr, and Diana Dors (in a minor role as "The Blonde"). Note that Diana Dors ("England's Marilyn Monroe") had a small part in the movie, but the U.S. distributors of it wisely recognized that she was a strong selling point, so she is prominently features on all the U.S. advertising, in a sexy dress, even though she is not billed on any of the posters! Note that RKO had made a movie based on The Saint in 1938, which starred Louis Hayward. After several other movies, where the character was played by George Sanders, RKO and Leslie Charteris had a falling out, and Charteris sued, and the case was settled out of court. In this 1953 movie, Louis Hayward returned to play the role for RKO, and it was released both under the title "The Saint's Girl Friday" and as "The Saint's Return". Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good to fine, NO CUTS. There is some minor wear around the edges and along the horizontal fold, but the pressbook is otherwise in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
